  • The Cliff Dwellers 200 South Michigan Avenue, 22nd Floor Chicago, IL, 60604 United States (map)

The Society of Architectural Historians and the Cliff Dwellers, in co-sponsorship with the Friends of Downtown and the Chicago Chapter of the AIA, are pleased to present another in their series of architectural events on Tuesday May 15, 2018; Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects: A Match Made in Chicago.

Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects (SNHA) is an 80 person firm with offices in Chicago and London, designing projects throughout the US and Europe.  It was formed by the recent merger of  two award winning firms, both of which have histories rooted in Chicago.  Nagle Hartray Architecture, a firm with over 50 years continuous practice and winners of the 2009 Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects Firm of the Year, and Sheehan Partners, founded in 2004 and a national leader in the design of large scale mission critical facilities.  Both firms are recipients of multiple AIA design awards.

Principals Timothy Hill and Don McKay will present a curated selection of projects, showcasing a history of the firm(s) through projects that are admittedly divergent in scale and type, but share a broad shouldered commitment to and passion for design, detail, and construction.

Both Tim and Don received Master of Architecture degrees from the University of Illinois at Chicago and were members of the same class.  Prior to the merger, Tim was a principal with Sheehan Partners, a principal with Lucien Lagrange Architects, principal and owner of Hill Architecture and has worked at SOM and Hammond Beeby Babka.  Prior to the merger, Don McKay was a principal at Nagle Hartray, where he has been for 34 years.
